Stratton 5 Mile Course
Meeting place:
We meet by the green in Stratton village near the Saxon Arms pub.
Course description:
Start on the southbound side of the A37 at direction sign opposite
the northern end of the acceleration lane from Stratton village.
Proceed south on A37 to the Charminster Weirs roundabout at the
junction with the Dorchester by-pass. Circle roundabout and retrace
on A37 to finish at 50 mph sign directly opposite the start. 5
miles.
After finishing,
riders are to use the cycle path alongside the northbound carriageway
to return to the HQ area adjacent to Stratton village green.
Course notes:
The Stratton 5 mile course was first used in September 2006, and
proved a success, providing a short, fast course ideal for an
early or late season time trial when there is not enough daylight
for a 10. The A37 can be busy, and care should be taken, especially
at the turn.
