Independence Day
Road Races
Again
we cheated the weather - well Sunday anyway - it was not very
pleasant routing the course in pouring rain Saturday afternoon
accompanied by my wife Jan.
We had 29 entries for the LVRC race of which
21 started in blustery conditions.Their race result was split
into 4 categories A, C, D & E as there were no other category
riders and they all started together. The race was neutralised
up the hill and was 3 laps for D & E cats and 4 laps for A
& C cats.
A Prime was awarded on the first lap for the
first A/C, D/E rider across the line. These were won by Roland
Tilley and Eric Wilcock. The prizes were genourosly donated by
a LVRC member who had helped me in the past but was too unwell
to enter.
LVRC - Roland Tilley attacked on the 1st climb
and collected the Prime. He stayed away for most of the 2nd lap
and was only caught at the foot of the climb whereupon he was
again the strongest and left the remaining bunch now down to 9
riders and maintained his lead until the finish. The riders following
came in as a group of 4 lead by Barry Clewett and another group
of 3 and then a few lone chasers.
LVRC RESULT

The TLI Race had an entry of 15 riders and as I wanted to give
prizes for the first 3 places in 2 groups, as well as 2 primes,
we split them into 2 groups of roughly equal sizes. They set off
together as not to do so would have required another lead car.
Colin Price was kind enough to fill this role. I being in the
lead car of the first race did not see very much of the racing
but they stayed very much together.
TLI RESULT

There would have been another competitor Gareth
Cobb, but he forgot his SHOES, however he was soon pressed into
marshalling for which I was very grateful not only to him and
his dad Dave on the finish, but to everybody who gave a hand.
Our St John Attendant this time was Juliette
and in a nice jesture Alister Asher ( Team Quest) donated his
2nd place prize in race 'C' to St John Ambulance to boost the
£1 already donated by all the riders.
